Florida Spring Break: Madeira Beach & Sanibel
We started our Florida spring break with an afternoon in Madeira Beach. My cousin & her family live near Tampa, Florida, so we decided to meet at the beach for a dolphin cruise & dinner! It was such a gorgeous day- 85 degrees & sunny felt incredible to us Wisconsinites! John's Pass is a shopping area on Madeira Beach with many fishing, dolphin & jet ski tours.
The kids loved watching all the dolphins come right up next to the boat.
We had dinner at one of my cousin's favorite places for fresh fish - Mid Peninsula Seafood. It was a very small little place with a tiki bar atmosphere. I had the grouper and the shrimp scampi, both dishes tasted incredible!!!
Day 2 of our spring break brought us to Sanibel & Captiva Islands. Our first stop was for a delicious lunch & homemade key lime pie at the Key Lime Bistro!
Bowman's Beach on Sanibel Island was our relaxing spot for the afternoon. We laid on the beach, played in the sand & our kids enjoyed their first time in the ocean. After a few drinks of salt water & coughing, they realized they should close their mouths when going in the waves! ha
Before our day at the beach, we stopped at Walgreens to pick up sunscreen, beach toys, arm floaties & towels! It was so nice to pick up this items quickly and not haul them in our luggage.
We had a great day enjoying the sun, sand & waves. After our day in the sun, we headed back to Cape Coral to our hotel for more swimming! I think this is what the kids were most excited about for our entire trip! We ended our evening with an incredible dinner at Ford's Garage. They have 3 full pages of burger options plus build your own! Yum!!!!
Can you tell that we got a little too much sun our first few days?
